RED Managing Partner; Chude Jideonwo featured on the first session of #MovingForward an initiative of Stanbic IBTC Bank on Tuesday September 30, 2014.

Chude Jideonwo talked about how the crucial it was to have mentors “people who inspire me and they have been both anchor and support. Mentors are indispensable. People who have seen I will forever be grateful to @abati1990 and @utomipat who were there from the beginning, one of my all-time mentors is @MoAbudu. There is @taradurotoye who I go to with real problems for real solutions.”

When quizzed on by Stanbic IBTC Bank on what has been some of his failures and what he  learnt from them?  “We launched #YMagazine in 2010. But soon after we wanted to move into fashion, it stumbled badly because we were not intrinsically a fashion or looks-first brand, and we didn’t have the internal competence, In fact I cringe when I remember its awful quality, it was instantly forgettable and it taught me a very important lesson that has stayed with me through my business life: the importance of domain knowledge it taught me patience, it taught me the importance of understanding your terrain deeply first, success isn’t automatic.”

Stanbic IBTC Bank #MovingForward is a series of interviews with entrepreneurs who have ‘moved forward’ in their business despite facing a hard time at succeeding in their fields.

Entrepreneurs from various industries are encouraged to open up and share their success story – from the inception of their ideas to how they built their businesses to be successful.
