The excitement continued last weekend as the continent’s biggest talent hunt show; Nigeria’s Got Talent stormed Lagos with an exciting 7th episode that also served as the beginning of the semi-final rounds.

After whittling down the contestants to 50 acts from across the country, seven of them were made to battle it out this weekend for a chance to be declared Nigeria’s most talented and to also walk away with the grand prize of 10 million naira.

The first on stage was Impulse Group from Port Harcourt. Intent on charming the audiences with voice and style, their rendition of ‘Kiss Your Hand’ won them the wholesome approval of the judges. Climaxx Group followed with an equally amazing dance performance.

Adding a distinctly contemporary touch to the night was Olayemi John from Ibadan, who performed one of Nigeria’s all time hit rap songs ‘The resurrection’. Easily stealing the show, the judges described as “so original and talented”. The DNA dance crew from Benin also displayed a fantastic performance which Dan Foster described as a dance that could
compete and match up the American standard.

Another very entertaining act was Bariyu Yusuf, the puppeteer. With his dog puppeteer companion, Yusuf cracked ribs and won hearts. Thus continued a string of spectacular performances: Vicky Mark, a singer from Benin who almost brought the audience to tears with the national anthem, the ‘adult babies’ on hand with their comic act, Udezeagwua Ezedi, a singer from Abuja, John Uket, another singer and Michael, a dancer from Enugu.

The semi-final round continues next week and viewers still have the power to vote and save their favorite contestant weekly. It will be aired on AIT (10:30 PM), STV (8:00 PM), NTA (4 PM), TVC (9PM) and Soundcity (6:30 PM). Fans in the United Kingdom can watch the show on HITV UK Sky 193 (8 PM).

Hosted by Andre Blaze, the judges for the season are radio host Dan Foster, actor Kate Henshaw and entertainment entrepreneur, Yibo Koko.
