Our director has just been appointed into the Inaugural Regional Advisory Board of President Obama’s Washington Fellowship representing West Africa
Our Director, Mfon Ekpo has been elected as a West African Representative on the Mandela Washington Fellowship Regional Advisory Board. The results were announced in the month of October following a 4-week electoral process where all 500 fellows in the Mandela Washington Fellowship, an initiative of President Obama to identify and empower the next generation of African leaders, voted fellows from each region in Africa to represent them.
The regional representatives (West , East and South African regions) are saddled with the responsibility of representing all the Mandela Washington Fellows in their region, advising on youth issues, helping to shape the implementation of the Mandela Washington Fellowship in their region, advising USAID AND IREX on Africa-based activities and consulting with country-level Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) Alumni Associations in each region.
The first Regional Advisory Board meeting takes place next month in Ghana where the West African Regional Leadership Center is situated.
