RED Managing Partner Chude Jideonwo has been listed among the five young African moving development forward o Africa-On the Rise site. The recognition came in line with the global commemoration of International Youth Day, honouring the efforts of these young Nigerians who in their own space and sector have been outstanding and moving development forward;

Mr. Jideonwo was tagged as the Apostle for youth in Africa. The Y! Naija brand, the Future Awards and the Future Project were mentioned as testaments of his gospel and passion for young people across Africa. For eight years now, with the Future Awards, he and his amazing team have been inspiring young people in Nigeria and beyond by celebrating outstanding contributions from young Nigerians making a difference to the society. At twenty-eight (28), Chude made this year’s Forbes list of ‘Best Entrepreneurs Under 30’.

Also on the list was Dr Ola Orekunrin who at the age of twenty-one (21) Ola wrote her final medical exams and emerged as one of the youngest doctors in England. Ola returned to Nigeria and set up Flying Doctors Nigeria, what remains one of the biggest breakthroughs in Nigeria’s health sector. Ola also made the Forbes list of ‘Best Entrepreneurs Under 30’ this year.

Chibundu Onuzo who was voted as UK’s ‘Best Black Student’ last year, at age nineteen (19)  and became the youngest female to be signed to publishing giant, Faber & Faber and had been shortlisted the Dylan Thomas Prize and the Commonwealth Book Prize was also listed. She was also long listed for the Desmond Elliot Prize.

Raphael Afaedor and Tunde Kehinde; pioneers of online retail in Nigeria and co-founders of Jumia, Raphael and Tunde were also on the list. They are said to have perhaps set up what is yet the biggest ‘shake up’ in business in Nigeria. With massive investments pouring in from every corner and expansions happening in the business, they are building perhaps Africa’s largest mega store and creating jobs and opportunities for other young people as they go along.
