Executive Director of The Future Project, Mfon Ekpo to speak at ‘Building Tomorrow’s Leaders Today’

The Executive Director of the Future Project, Mfon Ekpo will be speaking at  ‘Building Tomorrow’s leaders Today’ set to take place  at the Afe Babalola Hall, University of Lagos on Thursday July 9, 2015.

She will be speaking alongside Prof. Pat Utomi, Lolu Akinwunmi – Group CEO Prima Garnet and Remmy Hazzan – Fmr Deputy Speaker, Ogun State House of Assembly.

In 2014, Mfon Ekpo was selected as part of President Obama’s Young African Leaders Initiative and was later appointed the Chair of the Advocacy Committee on the Regional Advisory Board for the Mandela Washington Fellowship.

The event hosted by Soaring Eagle Generation starts at 3pm.

Access Bank and Fifth Chukker, in conjunction with UNICEF, hold Polo day in London to raise funds for underprivileged kids in Northern Nigeria
As part of its continued support of UNICEF, the Access Bank UK and Access Private Bank, along with Fifth Chukker, hosted the ‘Access Bank Polo Day’ at the Guards Polo Club, Windsor on Saturday June 13.
The event was attended by Adolfo Cambiaso the world’s greatest Polo player, HH.SH.Maita Mohd al Maktoum; Nick Danvers, Chairman HPA UK; senior members of African and Nigerian governments; UK and African business leaders and customers of Access Bank Nigeria and UK. In addition to raising awareness of those children suffering in Nigeria, the event also demonstrated the range of UNICEF´s charitable projects that address the needs of these children.

President Buhari appoints Accountant-General of the Federation, Media and Publicity Special Advisers
President Muhammadu Buhari in June approved the appointment of Alhaji Ahmed Idris as the Accountant General through the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HoS), Danladi Kifasi.‎ Earlier, Mallam Garba Shehu and Mr Femi Adesina were announced as Senior Special Adviser and Special Adviser respectively, on Media and Publicity .

At the recently concluded Women of West Africa Entrepreneurship (WOWe) Festival, Nigeria’s leading beauty house, House of Tara, dazzled as Ada Iwugo, Commercial Director of House of Tara, delivered on speech that centered around the Festival’s theme.

The Future Project successfully completes two weeks entrepreneurship crash course
Between 2 and 12 June 2015, The Future Project carried out a two-week intensive training on Entrepreneurship via The Future Enterprise Support Scheme (TFESS) platform, which is series of seminars, workshops and conferences that serve as a bridge towards skill acquisition and capacity building.
These training sessions have a distinctive structure that lend themselves to the learning and improvement of attendants, regardless of their level of knowledge.
The Entrepreneurship Unveiled sessions will see leading figures in select industries invest their expertise and experience in building other fledgling professionals, acting as catalysts that spark the creation of enterprise and sustained impact.

Action 2015 Coalition and Nigerian Stock Exchange partner on ‘The Day of the African Child”
The Future Project, as part of the Action 2015 Coalition, partnered with the Nigerian Stock Exchange to have 15 15-year-olds participate in the ringing of the opening bell as a way of recognizing them as future leaders. 
The teenagers participated in a Press Conference where they met members of the private sector who taught them how they can help secure the future they want through their Corporate Social Responsibility projects. 
The children were led to the Stock Exchange by media maven Mo Abudu alongside other celebrities like Timi Dakolo, Marvelous Odiete who were there to show their support to our future generation. 
This event presented the perfect opportunity to re-emphasize the business community’s commitment to the betterment of the lives of the future generation.

Aiki Nigeria takes basic ICT training to Enugu
Aiki Nigeria in partnership with Microsoft delivered basic ICT training to youths in South East Nigeria, empowering them with basic digital and communication skills, and also providing online learning opportunities in order to prepare them for the job market.
Participants were offered computer appreciation, how to use search engines, Microsoft office, and social media. This training ran from the 25th of June to the 27th of June 2015 at IMT Campus 3, Enugu, Enugu state.

TFAA 15 NOMINATIONS CALL

As part of its the launch of the 2015 season of The Future Awards Africa (TFAA), The Future Project (TFP) paid courtesy calls to the Canadian High Commissioner, Mr Perry John Calderwood and Swiss Deputy Head of Mission, Mr Daniel Cavegn in Abuja on  23 and 25 June, 2015. The courtesy team will also be visiting Senegal, South Africa, Ethiopia, Kenya and Ghana throughout July 2015 in order to introduce TFAA and its goals.

The courtesy team included Mfon Ekpo, Executive Director, The Future Project, Bukonla Adebakin, Team Lead, The Future Project, Jake Okechukwu, Winner, The Future Awards Africa Prize in Community Action 2014, Debbie Magnut, External Relations Director at RED, and Ikechukwu Akagba, Lead, The Future Project Volunteer, Abuja.

The courtesy visits also announced the commencement of nominations for the 10th annual TFAA, and the awards are seeking nominations from the public, for people between the ages of 18 and 31 who have been able to create incredible impact and well documented accomplishments within their community and/or globally in the last year. These achievements should revolve around their results, potential for growth plus the ability to inspire other young people in Africans.

The theme for this 10th anniversary is Imagine Africa!, chosen to highlight young Africans fulfilling the promise of the continent. TFAA is proud to demonstrate the richness and variety of positive change catalysed by these young ideas.
