General Muhammadu Buhari wins the 2015 Presidential Election

Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Attahiru Jega, announced the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Muhammadu Buhari, as the winner of the presidential election. This declaration was made around 3:40am on April 1, 2015.
Buhari defeated the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, to emerge victorious at the polls.
While making the announcement, Jega declared “that Muhammadu Buhari, having met the requirements of the law, is now declared the winner and returned elected.”
The APC candidate got the highest number of votes in 21 states with 15,424,921 votes while the PDP standard bearer prevailed in 15 states (including the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja) with 12,853,162 votes.

RED Founding Partner, Adebola Williams was hosted by one his mentors, Governor Rotimi Amaechi to a surprise birthday dinner on Tuesday March 10, 2015 at the Eko Signatures.
A very surprised Adebola said “I am honoured by this kind gesture and thankful to the Governor. I call him uncle because over the years he has shown to be a rock. Most of all I am grateful to God for his incredibly grace and favour upon my life.”

Speaking of Adebola, Governor Amaechi said “I have been very impressed by the sheer hardWork and commitment he has shown in his impact work for young Nigerians and their media and communications company over the years. Since meeting him, he has continued to surprise and inspire me by his many strides of success.“

In a bid to celebrate successful entrepreneurs or successful personalities, Happenings.com.ng hosted RED Managing Partner, Chude Jideonwo on Sunday, March 8, 2015 at The Colonades in Ikoyi.
The show which was also put together to celebrate his 30th birthday anniversary, kicked off with a testimonial session from some of his friends and fans who have had an encounter with him.
Joy Isi Bewaji hosted the discussion session with Chude, with two readings from Chude’s ‘Are We The Turning Point Generation?’
Chude shared profound insights while answering questions about the Nigerian culture, running a successful business in Nigeria and the role of citizens in delivering the Nigeria we want. I took note of the points below;
On the issue of “Nigeria’s Culture”, he said: “What we Nigerians call our ‘culture’ is mostly an excuse for what we can be as a people.”
On Active Citizenry, he said: “All we need do is be active citizens, ask questions and be involved in conversations that affect us.”
On Business, he said: “Nigerian businesses fail because people don’t know exactly how businesses succeed in Nigeria.” Emphasising that we need more case studies, mentors and materials that will help young Nigerians engage and succeed in business in Nigeria.
The event was also graced by the Chairman of happenings.com.ng, Chief Edirin Abamwa.

This March, RED Team members took self – development a notch higher by participating in trainings and internships with relevant world class organizations.
Isime Esene, YNaija Editor attended the Search Engine Optimization professional training at the prestigious BlueMagnet Digital Academy, Johannesburg, South Africa.
The four-day training touched on several training modules like SEO Basics, How Search Engines Work, Knowledge Graph Optimization, Social Media Impact on SEO, Content Strategy for SEO and more.
Other training participants were from different professional backgrounds ranging from Animation, Website Designing, Social Media Marketing and more. Isime duly represented West Africa in a class of 10 while other participants were from in and around South Africa.
After 4 days of intensive training, a visit to Table Mountain in Cape Town and other tourist locations was well deserved.

Mfon Ekpo is appointed Executive Director of The Future Project
Mfon Ekpo has been appointed Executive Director of The Future Project (TFP), to drive the growth, impact and institutionalisation of the organization.
She takes over from Chude Jideonwo, who was appointed Executive Director in 2010 and has functioned as Chief Executive of TFP and its parent organization, Red Media Africa.
Mfon, who until now served as Chief Operating Officer, is a lawyer who also specializes as a professional negotiator and strategist.
She holds multiple degrees in Public and International Law, Business Law and Social Sciences and a Masters degree in Maritime law from the University of Southampton. She is a Goodwill Ambassador to the State of Arkansas in the United States of America and has also won local and international awards for socio –economic and developmental essays and papers written and presented from the GOI Peace Foundation Tokyo, Nigerian Tourism Development Council, Associated Discount House in collaboration with the Financial Institution Training Centre and the Nigerian Law School where she was recognized nationally as the Best Student in Professional Ethics.
Founder of training firm The Discovery Centre, Mfon has worked and trained for the British High Commission, the Supreme Court of Nigeria, National Judicial Institute, and the National Assembly. She serves on the President’s Advisory Council and is a founding partner of the John Maxwell Team.
In 2014, she was selected as part of President Obama’s Young African Leaders Initiative and was later appointed the Chair of the Advocacy Committee on the Regional Advisory Board for the Mandela Washington Fellowship.
The appointment took effect on 1 January 2014.
